About Avidya Running
Avidya is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘ignorance.’ At its core, Avidya Running is an exploration into the dark places of our own ignorance using endurance running as our light. If we confuse mundane life to be the only reality, we remain ignorant of a truer reality.
We believe our ignorance is the root of our suffering. We put on challenging events to explore concepts like egos, attachments, aversions, and our identities.
We recognize that a community of strong, humble, hardworking people who are also interested in asking these questions makes a family. Avidya Running is a new race company, currently hosting events in New Mexico with a mission to grow and host premier events throughout the US.

Who We Are
We are endurance runners like you. In fact, we met running a 200-mile race, fell in love, got married, and started a race company.
We’ve each spent over a decade running ultras all over the country, plus a few other countries, and we are digging into that experience like mining for gold. Together, we share a strong vision of what a high quality endurance event does for the runner, looks like as a community, and feels like when you say goodbye. Our races offer this experience to ultrarunners whether they are new to the sport or buried in buckles. The Avidya family is supportive, diverse, and happy to suffer together.
If you love the trail and support stewardship of the outdoors, you are our people.
Our goal: to build the opportunity for you to push your beliefs and spirit further, deeper, stronger (what you do with that opportunity is up to you). Come and challenge the stories you tell. Come and break yourself. Grow intrinsically. Join our community. Revel in the bad weather. Go home happy, hungry, and dirty.

“Shenanigains is awesome. Dustin and Julie go above and beyond to find the perfect combination of fun and crazy. If you want to test your level of bad@$$, I recommend any of their events.”

“This race was old school ultrarunning as its finest. I thought everything was perfect (except the wind – but I’m used to that where I live on the Great Plains). I wish we had something like this back home. You really have a good thing going on there. Thank you for putting on this race. I may come back again for a visit some time..”

Butterknife People
The day I met Dustin, we accidentally ran 130 miles together in El Paso. That’s a rare find. A hundred miles invariably takes you to high and low and gross and emotional places. He and I have run long lots of times together, though, and somehow it’s always happy. Don’t misunderstand: on any day and…
